Panchayat Season 2: Release Date, Where To Watch And More

Panchayat follows the life of an engineering graduate who accepts a position as a Panchayat secretary in the distant village of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh due to inadequate work opportunities. The popular Bollywood Indian comedy-drama web series earned positive reviews from critics, who applauded the leading actors’ performances and the scripting, direction, and other major technical aspects. Critics also praised TVF and its producers for creating a rural village instead of previous projects, mostly set in an urbanized area.

Panchayat Season 2 is much awaited and will soon be released on Amazon prime Video. In the meantime, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming season and its release.

Panchayat Season 1 Summary

When Abhishek Tripathi, a city-bred young man, is compelled to take a job in a town named Phulera since he has no other options, he is forced to encounter strange scenarios, and a mix of strange people are now his coworkers. He is a recent engineering graduate who unwittingly accepts the secretary position in Phullera’s panchayat (village council) office. The sluggish lifestyle of rural India is foreign to him, having been born and raised in the city.

The idea of his panchayat office serving as his dwelling is also unappealing to him. Consequently, he becomes entangled in boredom, agony, and irritation, lashing out at each opportunity. Abhishek arrives at Phulera and meets the deputy sarpanch, his secretary, and the previous village sarpanch (husband of the present village sarpanch). On arriving, the panchayat office’s doors are locked, and the keys are missing. The circumstance within the office room turns him down when the doors are opened (blown from the frame).

Abhishek thinks that he needs to change jobs as soon as possible and that the only way to do so is to pass the CAT (Common Admission Test) and enroll at one of the IIMs. However, Abhishek’s frustrations are aggravated by the absence of electricity, and the rest of the storyline focuses on his attempts to adjust to village life and prepare for his entrance into this chaos, which leads to several humorous incidents.

A Detailed Review Of the Comedy-Drama Web Series

Jitendra Kumar is a rare find, and his performance is flawless in every way. Raghubir Yadav, for example, burrows into the character as if it were tailor-made for him, while Neena Gupta, despite her short screen time, makes an impact. Even the supporting cast is convincing and contributes much to the series’ success. The series is divided into eight episodes, each with extremely real challenges in rural India.

How each character reacts to each circumstance will astound you how accurate it is. There have been plenty of stories from North Indian areas that have come to the television before, but most of them have been gloomy and brutal. This one sticks out because it is lighthearted and introduces something fresh. The cinematography is so good that it captures the soul of the village in all its grandeur, complete with charming background music.

The well-timed dialogues and circumstances that keep you laughing throughout Panchayat are what keep it ticking. There are no major dramatic moments, but the humor and accompanying music score well the slice-of-life approach. The screenplay (Chandan Kumar), which wonderfully depicts the essence of rural life, and the performances by a brilliant cast are ultimately the trump cards here.

The characters’ eccentricities provide a good counterpoint to each other while remaining realistic and, luckily, not one-dimensional. Panchayat has received an 8.8 star IMDB rating. Every episode of the Amazon series can be enjoyed on its own, but it’s worth binge-watching.
