Minnal Murali- Story Plot & Review

Movie Summary

The story is about a young tailor from the Kurukkanmoola hamlet named Jaison, who aspires to work in the United States. Sub-Inspector Police Saajan informs Jaison that his daughter Bincy, whom he is dating, is already engaged to Aneesh and forbids him from dating her.

Biji, or “Bruce Lee,” is Aneesh’s ex-girlfriend who is upset that Aneesh broke up with her, and on the other hand, Shibu is a social outcast who works in a tea shop. Shibu has feelings for Usha, who is Daasan’s sister. She works in Jaison’s father’s tailor store and has a daughter who requires an urgent medical procedure, but she lacks the financial means to pay for it.

The story moves further, and on Christmas Eve, Jaison and Shibu are both struck by the same lightning bolt. Jaison is rushed to the hospital, although he does not appear to be in physical distress. Later on, Jaison and Shibu exhibit hints of superpowers. Josemon, who is Jaison’s nephew, believes that Jaison obtained superpowers after being struck by lightning.

One day, Constable Siby Pothan, who is Jaison’s brother-in-law, gets into a disagreement with his wife and beats her. Seeing this, Jaison gets enraged and knocks Pothan into a well, where he falls, and everyone is stunned by Jaison’s strength. Meanwhile, Usha visits Shibu’s teashop, where the proprietor makes a pass at her. Shibu gets furious, threatens him with his new telekinetic abilities, and warns him to stay away from Usha.

Jaison learns the truth about his father through Saajan, who interferes with Jaison’s ambitions to visit the United States. Saajan reveals to Jaison that his biological father is someone else, not Varkey. A theatre performer named Martin is Jaison’s biological father, who died in the fire. Jaison, however, was saved, and Varkey took him and nurtured him as his son.

It takes Jaison some time to adjust to his new identity, and the moments in which he tests his abilities with his nephew and faithful companion Josemon are fascinating.

Jaison adopts the name Minnal Murali and hides behind a mask to conceal his truth, all the while chastising those who oppose him. Murali’s enemy Shibu is coming to confront him, and things are about to get nasty for him (Guru Somasundaram); unlike Jaison, his newfound abilities bring out the worst in Shibu.

The story of Minnal Murali revolves around a good vs. evil battle.

Movie Review

The movie has received a lot of positive feedback from people and professional sources. A few of them gave the film four stars and described Minnal Murali as the “Best Indian Superhero movie”.

Tovino shines as both the adorable Jaison and the wacky protagonist superhero. It is said that villains help define a story’s hero, and one of the key features that distinguish Minnal Murali is its supervillain Shibu. The movie goes into great detail about Shibu’s traumatic past, and audiences may empathize with him until his darker side takes over in the film’s first half. Somasundaram’s acting skills are displayed throughout the film, particularly in the emotional parts.

Another plus is how Bruce Lee Biji, the film’s female star, is treated (Femina George). Biji is tough and provides a helping hand to Murali in times of need. Baiju, Harisree Ashokan, P Balachandran, and Aju Varghese are the supporting cast members that deliver excellent performances. The cinematography of Sameer Thahir and the editing of Livingston Mathew both contribute to the film’s success.

Final Verdict

Minnal Murali, played by Tovino Thomas, is your typical village everyman, a little too ambitious and self-assured for his benefit. It is a must-watch movie for people interested in superhero stories where a commoner gets tremendous skills and powers.

It takes a while for the ‘superhero’ genesis section of the film to get into the swing of things. Also, a few situations are on the point of melodrama and have some intense dialogues. The film is a low-key, lighthearted comedy with a charismatic superhero and villain. Tovino has hinted at a sequel, implying that Minnal Murali may become a franchise.
