Minnal Murali tells you the story of a native village situated amidst the scenic beauty of Kerala. Tovino Thomas plays the role of a tailor who is struck by lightning one day. The same happens to the antagonist Guru, who the director refers to as the Second hero! The two men realise their superpowers accidentally and the story unfolds into a series of amazingly portrayed and beautifully acted sequences.

The movie has become an instant hit and is now described as India’s very own superhero movie. Why it resonates so well with the audience is because it doesn’t just resemble a Hollywood superhero movie. It speaks about common people and also tells the story of how an ordinary person with flaws can use his powers for the betterment of society.

The most attractive part is that Jaison is not an ideal hero. He is a common man getting superpowers and he is not immediately going out and saving people. It was very much relatable for me also. ‘What if I get a superpower?’ That’s what we thought. Like if I get a superpower, I will not go out and save people. First, I will try it out and enjoy it and then once I realize the responsibility of having these powers, I will go out and do good to the people,” says Tovino.

The movie enjoys a total of 11,440,000 hours viewed on Netflix. This is indeed a record for a Malayalam movie and has ensured that Minnal Murali has gained a permanent place in the heart of the Indian cinema world.
