Made in Heaven Season 2: Cast, Release & Where To Watch

On March 8, 2019, Amazon Video released this web series set in India on the lives of two wedding planners targeting the seemingly welcoming uber-rich in Delhi. Produced by Excel Entertainment, the Made in Heaven series is about Tara and Karan, two wedding planners in Delhi who own a wedding management company called Made in Heaven. It is Amazon Prime’s fourth original series in India.

Written by Alankrita Shrivastava, Made in Heaven is created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Akhtar, Shrivastava, Nitya Mehra, and Prashant Nair directed the first season’s nine episodes. The show’s second season began filming on March 2, 2021 and was set to wrap up in July 2021. There are two seasons in total, each with nine episodes.

Made In Heaven depicts modern-day India as a mash-up of old and new, colliding with traditional and modern values. The Stories in the show are set against the backdrop of luxurious weddings. Each episode introduces a new family, new wedding, and glimpses of the main duo’s lives with the recurring employees of the wedding management company. Critics have described it as a powerful story about human nature and larger socioeconomic forces in Delhi.

Made in Heaven: Plot

Karan and Tara need to get their wedding back on track since it will help to increase the success of their developing company. As a wife of an industrial scion, Tara wants to show to herself that she is more than just his wife — and as she is about to discover, things in her marriage to Adil (Jim Sarbh) aren’t quite a peachy keen, as she will soon discover.

The cash flow is critical for Karan, who took out loans to fund his half of the company from some questionable sources, and the bill is due in a very short period. Aside from that, Karan has another problem to contend with: He hasn’t come out in the open yet.

His family is completely unaware of his sexual orientation and always attempts to match him with suitable marriage partners. Meanwhile, his landlord (Vinay Pathak) is suspicious of bringing male lovers back to his flat, which seems to be another violation of the rules.

As Tara and Karan navigate the extremely competitive wedding planning market, we also understand their background and stories through flashbacks which render them complex and compelling. There is also a constant underlying dread after the series starts, which in a way validates our voyeurism. Even though the series starts with slow, languorous shots, it slowly flips with expository dialogues and longish voiceovers by the detached photographer of the company, Kabir Singh.

In the series which has crucial plots and predictable turns with too much foreshadowing, the characters still remain true to themselves, eschewing the labels. The mood of the series is consistent, underlining the subtle tension with the story unfolding on its own terms.
