Hurray for Netflix! As the holidays are approaching, Netflix subscribers are in for a warm & cosy season. The OTT provider has cut down subscription rates and opened a world of entertainment and enjoyment just before the festive season takes over.

Revised Lowered prices of Netflix Subscription

Netflix users have 4 options to take their subscription.

  • There is a mobile-only plan that was available for ₹ 199. This has been reduced to Rs149/-.
  • The next tier is the Basic plan which was ₹ 499 and now has been brought down to Rs 199/-.
  • The third option is the Standard plan which has come down to Rs 499/- from Rs 649/-.
  • The fourth option is the Premium plan which costs Rs799/- is now reduced to Rs 649/-.

Why The Revision

Netflix made its debut in India in 2016. Since then though the platform provided high-quality content, the prices were on the higher side, especially when compared to its competitors Amazon Prime, Disney plus Hotstar. With the lockdowns and pandemic taking over the country, the necessity of interesting digital content has become more evident. Hence the OTT service providers are upping their games and it is time that Netflix did the same.

Their content is already in the good books of subscribers concerning quality and diversity. The price reduction and timing are spot-on as 2021 is approaching an end. The dawn of 2022 will certainly be in strategic alignment with the marketing policy of Netflix.

Is This A Move To Attract More Customers?

The Netflix price reduction announcement comes at a time when Amazon Prime has revised its subscription charges. The Prime subscription charges have increased and now users have to pay more to watch their favourite shows.

While the Prime Price revision includes a hike, Netflix users are overjoyed with being able to celebrate this timely reduction in subscription costs. Now they can enjoy all the holiday specials at a lower rate than earlier.

We assume that Netflix will be able to attract more customers with this strategic tactic. Now Netflix users can enjoy high-quality content at affordable costs and this will indeed increase their consumer base.
