Where To Watch Drishyam 2: Cast, Storyline, And More
Having a reputation to uphold, and the expectations to fulfill may either be a burden or a motivation, depending on how you look at it. A high bar has been set for the sequel to Drishyam, which was one of the greatest thrillers ever made in Malayalam cinema. The first part of the movie Drishyam has been also dubbed in Hindi. The movie features an intriguing protagonist in Georgekutty, who is constantly one step ahead of the police.
This sequel picks up six years after the events of Drishyam, in which Georgekutty (Mohanlal), a cable television operator, outwitted the police officers who were looking into his daughter’s accidental murder of Varun Prabhakar, a classmate who was accidentally killed by her during an attempt to sexually assault her.
Storyline Of Drishyam
Georgekutty (Mohanlal) lives with his wife and two children in a little house in the countryside. In the course of one day, his older daughter is photographed in the washroom by a concealed camera that belonged to Varun Prabhakar, the spoilt son of a police officer. Varun threatens the young lady, stating that if she does not comply with his requests, he would post photos of her on social media.
He later comes to their home and threatens her. The girl’s mother finds out about it and she pleads with him to leave them alone. The girl murders Varun in the heat of the moment, causing him to die. The mother and daughter duo then conceal Varun’s corpse and later tell Georgekutty all that has happened. He devises a strategy to protect his family from the law and disposes of any evidence in his possession.
Being an ardent watcher of thriller movies, Georgekutty has the ability to fabricate a fictitious alibi for himself and his family members. But after being beaten up by the cops, his younger daughter admits that she witnessed the corpse being buried and tells them where it was. When the police dig up the area, they are horrified to discover the corpse of a calf.
Because the corpse of the deceased adolescent has not been discovered, the authorities are unable to charge Georgekutty with murder. Varun’s parents learn the truth about Varun’s true goals and they believe they are to blame for his behaviourPainfully the realisation dawns that they have created a spoilt child.
After signing a register at the police station, Georgekutty is shown going out of the building in the last shot. In a flashback sequence, Georgekutty is going out of the police station with a shovel, and the scene blends into the current scenario.
The conclusion reveals that Georgekutty had concealed Varun’s corpse under the police station while just the foundation of the building had been constructed. This also implies that the police will never be able to apprehend Georgekutty since they will never be able to uncover any proof against him. They would also never search for the body under their police station since they would never think to.
Drishyam 2 Full Movie Details
After getting dubbed in Hindi by director Nishikanth Kamat, the director of original Drishyam Jeethu Joseph has come up with a sequel to the movie. Drishyam was very well appreciated not just in Tollywood but also Bollywood. The sequel Drishyam 2 is also set to gain similar compliments from the audience in India.
The Storyline
According to Jeethu Joseph, his new crime thriller is situated in the same Kerala town where the events of his last crime drama unfolded a decade ago. Georgekutty (Mohanlal) is now residing in a bigger, posher home; where he lives with his wife Rani (Meena) and his daughters Anju (Ansiba) and Anu (Esther Anil). It is the same plot of land where they previously resided, which is a reflection of his wealth.
His relationship with Rani has not changed, and they continue to snipe at one other as they did before. Even in the raising of their daughters, they remain a rock-solid partnership. Asha Sharath’s character Geetha Prabhakar (IG Geetha Prabhakar) was pursuing the family on the assumption that they had murdered her son, and the community rallied to their cause. As a result of their envy over Georgekutty’s upward mobility, they are no longer as supportive.
Rani and Anju have both experienced profound psychological trauma as a result of Drishyam’s encounters with them. Running through Rani’s mind is Georgekutty’s adamant unwillingness to ever speak about what occurred that day. It is in the first part of Drishyam 2 that they are able to build their ongoing trauma and gradually demonstrate that the police never gave up on the investigation.
The inquiry has been restarted, and this is the subject of the second part of the movie. Mohanlal returns to the big screen in what turns out to be a surprisingly enjoyable sequel to the previous film. As a consequence, Drishyam 2 does not come off as a cynical attempt to cash in on the popularity of Drishyam, nor does it seem to be an opportunistic attempt to capitalise on Drishyam’s success.
Drishyam 2 -Major Breakthroughs
Without giving anything away, let us just say that the first major break the police receive here comes via a method that seems to have been used without the numerous permissions that would have been required from different agencies in the first place. Nonetheless, the officer who made this judgment is subsequently shown to be a stickler for the rules of the game in general.
Drishyam 2 is an enjoyable experience, not only because of the tension created by wondering whether Georgekutty, Rani, and their daughters will finally crack, but also because Jeethu paints a convincing picture of small-town life, demonstrates an understanding of human psychology, and neatly ties up the majority of loose ends.
Without a doubt, this is still a patriarchal world that is predicated on the concept of the father as a protector. And in a brief scene that adds absolutely nothing to the plotline, a police officer is shown loudly stating that laws to protect women are being misused.
Accept these blunders, and seeing Drishyam 2’s storyline hurtle towards the film’s emotional and insightful conclusion will be a great deal of pleasure for you. After an amazing surprise at the halfway point, the film remains relentless.
Drishyam 2 Reviews
- As a guy who has lived in constant dread of being discovered, Mohanlal in Drishyam 2, being an extraordinarily talented actor has performed the character flawlessly. Both he and Meena, who plays a considerably more significant role in the proceedings this time around, provide mind-blowing performances in their respective roles.
- In their roles as Geetha and Prabhakar, the tormented parents who are yearning for closure, Asha Sarath and Siddique are just fantastic. When it comes to the writing of these two, Jeethu shines brightly, maintaining empathy for Georgekutty and Rani while never making the other pair out to be evil villains. Despite her sorrow and the anger, she fires towards Georgekutty, Geetha, in particular, maintains a spark of compassion, which adds a unique touch to Drishyam’s overall storyline.
- Murali Gopi, one of the newcomers to the group this time around, stands out for his effective depiction of a tough police officer. A critical supporting role is played by Anjali Nair, who performs well.

Conclusion
It is possible that Drishyam 2 won’t function as a standalone picture, as many sequels do, since it is so heavily reliant on the original film and has so many frequent allusions to it. Nonetheless, despite its flaws, it is a respectable companion piece to its well-acclaimed predecessor.
