Prevailing to a sudden spike in wired and wireless internet users, TRAI is leaving no stone unturned to enhance Internet speed in India. Leading Internet service providers like Jio, Vi, and Airtel are responding prominently to the same.

In its recently published press release, the TRAI emphasized having a roadmap to promote broadband connectivity and enhanced speed across the nation.

A glimpse of the same could be seen in the same consultation paper when TRAI seeks help from stakeholders. The paper said that during the pandemic, the internet will become a necessity like portable water and electricity. It further added, Internet will become a fundamental human right.

With this, they made their intentions and vision that looked at the internet not just as a commercial means of connectivity but also as a basic necessity for the citizens in general. To further get to a conclusion and have better solutions, it asked stakeholders to outline possible reasons behind slow internet connectivity in India.

Undoubtedly India has managed to accelerate its position and reach 70th in the list of global fixed broadband speeds records in 2021, the regulatory body is consistently striving to better the end-user experience.

According to reports, the average internet speed in India is currently 46.47 MBPS and 12.07 MBPS for broadband and mobile networks respectively. You can also download monthly reports from the official TRAI website for in-depth learning.

In wireless internet connections, Vi ranks first with an average internet speed of more than 15 MBPS, followed by Airtel and Jio delivering 14 MBPS and 10 MBPS respectively.

Meanwhile, in wired connections, Jio Fiber tops the list with a mean internet speed of 80 MBPS, followed by ACT Fibernet delivering the second fastest internet speed of 75 MBPS. Not just this, Jio Fiber also has the best ratings with 3.7 stars, making it the most preferred internet service provider in India.

Looking at the figures, mobile connectivity is still more or less on similar grounds in terms of internet speed in India. If we analyze mobile broadband speed in South Korea, which was 100 MBPS in 2020, the fastest internet speed in India is still a benchmark far from the present.

What’s important is to closely keep a check on how TRAI resolves the concern and deliver the highest internet speed in India with improved connectivity both on Mobile and wired Broadband.

To be noted, this doesn’t just hold importance for the booming business sector, which is wholeheartedly adopting the WFH culture, also for people that have made the internet part of their daily life.
