Following the events of The Conjuring, the film opens off with Ed and Lorraine embarking on a fresh investigation, putting their daughter Judy (McKenna Grace) in the hands of their regular babysitter, Madison Iseman.

Naturally, the babysitter brings some of her buddies over, and because they don’t appreciate the Warrens’ desires or property, they unintentionally release many creatures into the home, including the monstrous doll Annabelle.

Judy Warren appears to be much older than she was in The Conjuring, and this film also features the most noticeable visual alterations to the Annabelle doll, regardless of wear and tear over time. Cookie-cutter jump scares and generic horror rhythms, along with a lack of characterisation and an out-of-place cold open, sunk this picture to the bottom of the rankings, but the speed, idea, and performances save it.
