Much Awaited Launch of Jio Phone Next Delayed
Subscribers have to wait for more for the long-awaited Jio Next Phone. The next possible date of release is to be by Diwali. Delay due to shortage of semiconductor chips
The world of telecom lovers was supposed to be celebrating the arrival of a cost-friendly, technologically advanced smartphone by September 10th. The JIO Phone Next, a product from a collaboration between Google and Reliance Jio, is the much-talked-about smartphone that is all set to revolutionize the telecom industry.
However, our sources reveal that an acute chip shortage has delayed the launch and subscribers will have to wait till Diwali to finally get hold of their smartphones.
Is this a bad or good thing? Well, the companies have decided not to compromise on the quality of their product and hence want to carry further tests. Across the automobile as well as mobile industry, the pandemic has triggered a shortage of semiconductors. This is yet another factor that has caused the hold-up on the release of Jio Phone Next.
Last Friday, Google and Jio released a combined statement that explains the delay: “Both companies have begun testing JioPhone Next with a limited set of users for further refinement and are actively working to make it available more widely in time for the Diwali festive season. This additional time will also help mitigate the current industry-wide, global semiconductor shortages.”
The companies remain committed to their vision of opening up new possibilities for millions of Indians, especially those who will experience the internet for the very first time
Subscribers can find all the features of the smartphone in our earlier news release.
