IPL 2022: Where To Watch, Auction & More

The IPL craze has finally begun, as the process of keeping and releasing players from various teams has finished. The proposed date for the IPL in 2022 has been released, and cricket fans are eager to learn the details. The BCCI is likely to make a major statement on the unveiling of the new IPL 15 schedule after the IPL 2022 Auction.

IPL 2022 Schedule-Latest Updates

The Indian Premier League, or IPL, will enter its fifteenth season in 2022. As indicated before, the season’s first phase has already been completed, with clubs announcing their retained and released players. The official Board is also due to announce the exact dates for the following phases, including the auction and the day the IPL matches will begin.

Due to the lack of official information on the calendar, several sports experts have speculated on the IPL 2022 schedule’s predicted dates. As of today, it is expected that the IPL 2022 will begin in either late March or early April 2022. Typically, IPL matches take place between April and May. Now, IPL fans are awaiting the final schedule of the next matches.

However, many analysts believe that the IPL 2022 matches will begin in the first week of April 2022. Whichever dates are chosen, the games will start at 7:30 PM.

IPL 2022 Schedule: When Will It Be Released?

The IPL has yet to announce the official dates for the IPL 2022 season. According to speculations and news about IPL 2022, the BoardBoard should announce the schedule days after the auction’s conclusion and the announcement of the clubs’ final rosters for the game. As a result, we estimate that the IPL 15 schedule will be released in February 2022.

The announcement of the IPL 2022 schedule dates could take some time since there is a good likelihood that the number of matches will grow due to the addition of additional clubs. This will also extend the season’s duration, and it is projected that IPL Season 15 would now run more than 70 days.

The match dates will be promoted on Star Sports Channel and Disney Hotstar.

IPL 2022 Location

As with the dates, the IPL is yet to confirm the locations of the matches. However, analysts have been playing guessing games over the IPL 2022 destination. At the moment, it is expected that Chennai, India, will host all IPL 2022 or IPL Season 15 matches.

The IPL matches were generally held in six locations around India, including Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Bengaluru. However, venues are being modified due to India’s COVID crisis.

According to analysts, the matches would be held in India only if all goes according to plan. If the number of Covid episodes in the nation increases, the BoardBoard may make choices similar to those regarding the arrangement of the IPL 2021 matches. This implies that if the BoardBoard determines that there is a danger of Covid spread, it may opt to hold all matches in the UAE.

IPL 2022 Auctions

The preparations for the IPL 2022 season have begun, including a ten-team field. BCCI has already identified two new IPL teams in Lucknow and Ahmedabad that would compete alongside the existing eight teams in the 2022 seasons. The next phase is the triumphant IPL 2022 super auction, slated for next month in February.

Thus, ten franchises will participate in the auctions, including the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow, plus Ahmedabad. For the auction, each club has Rs. 90 crore.

Each of the former eight organizations has maintained a total of 27 players. There are 19 Indian players, including 8 international players among them. Additionally, the retention lists include four new players. All previous teams were permitted to keep a maximum of four players. There may be a maximum of three local players and two international players.

Important Dates of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction

The 2022 IPL auction date is scheduled for February 12th and 13th, 2022, in Bengaluru. The 2022 IPL auction shall take place over two days, similar to the 2018 super auction. Previously, the IPL 2022 mega auction was thought to take place during the first and second week of January. The deadline was, however, extended until February.

Additionally, the 2022 IPL auction has a slim likelihood of being postponed. The reason for this is that the two new clubs were anticipated to choose three players from the group of released players for their squads before the auction.

The two new teams have been given until January 22 to choose their players, and the IPL’s 2022 auction would actually occur on the previously planned days of February 12 & 13.

Franchise in Lucknow

Lucknow is among two new franchises in the IPL in 2022. Rajiv Goenka’s RPSG Group is the owner of the Lucknow franchise. The consortium offered Rs. 7090 crores for the Lucknow franchise. This has been the highest offer received by BCCI throughout the bidding process.

RPSG Group formerly controlled the Rising Pune Supergiants franchise in 2016 and 2017. Lucknow is reportedly in negotiations with KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer for the captaincy. Additionally, the franchise may adopt the name Lucknow Scorchers for the IPL 2022 season.

Franchise in Ahmedabad

CVC Capitals owns the Ahmedabad franchise. It is a British private equity business that invests in sports such as Formula 1, football, and rugby. The firm made a bid of Rs. 5,625 crore to acquire the franchise. According to rumors, the squad may compete under the moniker Ahmedabad Renegades.
