What is Aarogya Setu App?
The Indian government has been trying their best to make amends and laws through which the citizens can be safe from the hazards of the Coronavirus app but still not everything is perfect, and in that context, the GOI has released the Aarogya Setu App which is a very special app that notifies you about any coronavirus patient or affected person around you in 6 meters.
Even if you have met someone previously, then the app will notify you if the same person has been infected with the virus and if that is the case, then the app also shows you about the next steps to be taken to safeguard yourself from being infected from the virus. Apart from the notification feature, this application has manyu guidelines for the Coronavirus and how people can save themselves from the COVID-19 diseases.
Moreover it also has a self assessment feature where anyone who has installed the app can complete a quick quiz type of survey with questions regarding your body and condition which once done, will determine if you are infected with the coronavirus or not. In order to access the Aarogya Setu App you can directly download it from the Android or the IOS play store and more than 10 million people have downloaded the app from the Android play store in the last week itself.
Why to use Aarogya Setu App – Can it really find Coronavirus Infected people?
To make sure that every Indian is able to use the app, the government has made the app available in almost all Indian languages so anyone can choose the language when they first install the app and set it up. The app uses bluetooth and social generated graphics which connects all the data of the people who are using the app and determines if the person is infected with the virus.
If yes, then it not only notifies the person who is infected but it also notifies all other users who have recently met the same person. In this means, it notifies coronavirus affected people to the government and other people.
Self Assessment Test
From the homepage of the app, click on take a self assessment test which will present you with a few questions regarding your current body condition, age and temperature and how you have been feeling for the last few days and weeks. At the same time it will contain some basic travel questions if there are none, then select as none or else you can address your travel location and depending on the answers you have given the app will provide an assessment as infected or not infected.
Infected People in your Area
On the homepage of the app once it is installed, you can see that it will show green color on the back if there are no infected people near your area but if there are any infected people then the color will change from Green to Red and then blue which is a case of emergency and you will have to follow all the guidelines to ensure that you do not come into contact with those people.
- Why Aarogya Setu App is asking to allow Bluetooth and location access?
It means that when you first install the app, it will ask you to allow the use of bluetooth and you need to allow the privacy policy to access your data which will only be used by the government by allowing location and provide Phone number input in the next step.

The reasons why you are requested and is mandatory to have the mobile number is because if you have come into contact with any coronavirus affected person in the last 14 days then the app will notify everyone to their mobile number that the person you have met was infected and it will provide you details and guidelines to what the next step you have to follow as well.
