BSNL Prepaid Plan Prices Hiked Since Aug 1st
BSNL tariff rates revised as of August 1st 2021. The validity period was reduced for the plans. Hike occurs following the example of other telecom operators.
On August 1st 2021, Bsnl had announced that there will be an increase in the prepaid recharge tariffs. Along with the hike in tariffs, the validities of the plans have been reduced. Whether subscribers will accept these plans is something to watch out for. The changes were noted by the Kerala Telecom Department when implemented.
Vodafone Idea started the process of raising tariffs by 40 percent. They were later followed by Bharti Airtel who announced their plans for tariff hikes. Not to be left behind, Reliance Jio joined the race and presented its subscribers with a new set of increased price tariffs. Last, but not least, to enter the competition is BSNL.
A summarised version of the revised prepaid plans
According to the BSNL announcement, the changes are mainly brought in the cheaper plans which are the most sought out ones. Of course, the subscribers in each regional circle will have to check with their retailer to know if there are other specific changes in that circle. Generally, the revised plans look like this:-
Plan rate in Rs | Validity earlier | Validity now |
49 | 28 days | 24 days |
75 | 60 days | 50 days |
94 | 90 days | 75 days |
Plan rate in Rs | Validity earlier | Validity now |
106 | 100 days | 84 days |
107 | 100 days | 84 days |
197 | 180 days | 150 days |
397 | 365 days | 300 days |
While BSNL users are still deciding if the changes are acceptable or not, We, at Selectra, think that it is a matter of existence in the industry and with Vodafone Idea facing a crisis stage, every telecom operator has had to revise their strategies.
