BSNL Joins With TCS For Indigenous 4G Network Development

TCS and BSNL join forces to develop an indigenous 4G network. First set of trial test calls conducted.

BSNL expects to introduce 4G services to all BSNL subscribers by the end of 2021. The Indian government has also supported this move and has allocated Rs 24,084 crore for the 4G spectrum. Making the best of the financial aid, the Government-owned Telecom Giant is all set to improvise its 4G plans and bring life to the rural regions where internet connectivity is still a dream.

Choosing one of the best partners, BSNL collaborated with TCS, Tata Consultancy Services, to develop a completely indigenous 4G network. Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw successfully made the first test call from a 4G network developed in India by BSNL – TCS partnership.

Made the first call over Indian 4G network of BSNL (Designed and Made in India). PM @narendramodi Ji’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat taking shape,” Vaishnav said in a tweet.

The memorable first call to our Telecom minster was made possible when Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman did the honours and called him from Chandigarh. BSNL is currently testing PoC (Proof of Conduct) of 4G equipment together with Tata Consultancy Services at Chandigarh.

The Government is focussing more on developing a 4G network indigenously after the curb on China-made equipment has been placed. This was due to the unfortunate standoff that took place between Indian and Chinese military personnel in Galwan Valley last year. Our country lost more than 20 mighty soldiers in that incident.
