High Court To Reduce Penalty For Juhi Chawla On 5G Lawsuit

Juhi Chawla 5G Case-Penalty fine to reduce from Rs 20 lakhs to Rs 2 lakhs. The actress will have to engage in social service activities beneficial to the public. Juhi’s advocate reciprocates her willingness to the decision.

The 5G lawsuit on Juhi Chawla is seeing a new turn. The Bollywood celebrity had filed a case earlier in 2021 requesting an investigation on the entry of 5G into the country. She along with the other petitioners requested clarification regarding the safety of people when exposed to such high radiations.

The case saw an unanticipated twist and ended in the actress and two others having to pay a penalty fine of Rs 20 lakhs.

Now again the case is taking a new direction. Based on an appeal from the petitioners including Juhi Chawla, the court has reviewed the earlier verdict.

The Delhi High Court has proposed that the penalty fine can be reduced to Rs 2 lakhs and that based on Juhi’s popularity as a celebrity public figure, she could use her popularity and offer some work for a good public cause. However, it has to be noted that the plea against 5G which she submitted has been dismissed.

We will not waive the cost completely but we can reduce it substantially from ₹ 20 lakh to ₹ 2 lakh. But that comes with a condition. Considering your client is a celebrity and has a presence in public, she should do some public work also. Her image and position may be utilised by the society for some public work, some good campaign and good purpose also. “Will she do it? She could do a programme for DSLSA here. DSLSA people will contact her and they could work out something and she can feature in it and could promote,” the bench suggested.

According to Juhi Chawla’s counsel & senior advocate Mr Salman Khurshid, the Bollywood celebrity is more than happy with the decision. She considers it a lifetime opportunity to provide service to society.
