Twitter permits users to host spaces, restrictions have been removed. No longer do you need 600 followers to host space on Twitter.


Great news for Tweet lovers. Specific number of followers no longer a restraint to host audio conversations. Earlier last year, Twitter had launched Twitter Spaces which is equivalent to Clubhouse. Spaces allowed users to have real-life audio conversations and also offered the provision to add emojis in the conversation. However, the catch was that you could host it if only there were 600 followers.

The company tweets:- The time has arrived – we’re now rolling out the ability for everyone on iOS and Android to host a Space,” read a tweet from the official Twitter Spaces account.

With the limitation being lifted, everyone on Twitter can enjoy this feature. The social networking giant has taken a great decision which is going to be an instant hit among all Twitter users. Android and IoS users, irrespective of their number of followers are now in a position to host spaces at their convenience.

In the previous version, Twitter would display the Spaces on a timeline only when their contacts were hosting a Space. Now users will be able to know when a follower is participating in audio space. Users can also control who sees their Space activities. The feature can be turned off if the host does not wish to include a particular follower.

How To Control Who Sees Your Space Activity

It is relatively easy to control who sees your listening activity. The steps to be followed are listed below:

  • “Settings and privacy” – “Privacy and safety
  • Go to Spaces
  • Find the option “Let followers see which Spaces you’re listening to”
  • Turn it off

Only the followers attending the space will be able to view the host’s activities.
