83 (Movie) Plot

In 1983, Captain Kapil Dev led an Indian team that was considered underdogs to the country’s first-ever World Cup championship. The film ’83, directed by Kabir Khan, captures the experience of this squad, who returned home as a group of extraordinarily talented world champions after teaching a country to trust in itself and to place its hopes in its cricket players.

83 (Movie) Review

The viewer is introduced to the people in the film inside the first few minutes of the film, thanks to an expertly structured passport sequence created by Kabir Khan. He also utilizes dialogue and casual talks to inform you of a reality – Indians did not believe that India would win the World Cup and return home. That’s when you realize that this film isn’t about winning on a global scale; it’s about achieving respect in your community.

A large part of India’s passion for cricket may be attributed to how the team of 1983 proceeded on to blow the wind out from the West Indies, who were considered to be a practically invincible cricket team at the time, through the World Cup Finals that same year.

Team India’s level of expectation was so low at one point during the tournament that a broadcaster chose a match between two of the world’s best teams, the West Indies and Australia, over a match involving India and Zimbabwe. The latter was the match in which Indian captain Kapil Dev made a big impact with the Mongoose bat.

Immediately upon hearing Ranveer Singh cracking Kapil Dev’s unmistakable manner of speech, as well as precisely duplicating his Natraj stroke on the field, his bowling movement, and his body posture, you realize that you’re immersed in the middle of a sports drama centered around the sport of cricket.

You hear a guy telling you what makes him a renowned name in the sport when he talks as to why he thinks, believes, and feels the way he does about the sport when you listen to him speak about it. There is no doubt that we have all seen the famous photograph of Kapil Dev holding up a world cup; nevertheless, the video dives into why we are so emotionally invested every time we see it.

Especially noteworthy is the manner in which key events from Team India’s journey through the 1983 World Cup were re-created for the film. They were expertly woven into the drama and emotions of the piece. The writing staff should be commended for their ability to weave everything together nearly smoothly. Because the film is based on true events, there is minimal room for creative license in the filmmaking process.

During the course of the film’s run, you will come to realize that by the end of the day, this was an internal adventure of a group of underdogs who were fighting against internal and external odds – a factor that we Indians can all relate to, particularly in the context of the sport on which the film is based and the time period during which the sequence of events took place.

83 (Movie) Performance In The Box Office

The film was released around Christmas last month and has faced stiff competition at the box office from blockbusters such as ‘Pushpa’ (Hindi) and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ This sports drama is in its fourth week at the box office and has grossed over Rs 1.75 crore net.

According to the trade website Box Office India, the Kabir Khan-directed picture is making half the business of Allu Arjun’s dubbed action movie Pushpa, which is showing in fewer places throughout the Hindi belt. Producers of ’83 stand to lose roughly Rs. 80 crore due to the film’s high budget of Rs. 200 crore.

Reliance Entertainment, one of the production companies behind 83, said that the film had grossed Rs 102.43 crore at the Indian box office as of 20th January 2022.

Where To Watch 83 (Movie) In India

Four weeks after its release date, 83 is still running in theaters. However, Shibasish Sarkar, Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, said that “Film 83″ would be broadcast on digital services or satellite TV at the very least eight weeks after its theatrical premiere in theaters throughout the world.” So, if you’re looking for the 83 full movie download, you will have to wait till it’s released on OTT platforms.

So, after 4 weeks, viewers will most likely be able to stream the movie on OTT platforms. Once released on these platforms, viewers will be able to complete the 83 movie download.

As per a statement released by the CEO of Reliance Entertainment, the movie won’t be available for streaming on any OTT platform soon.
